My story
This is a quick insight of my journey and of the reasons why I became a dog trainer and nutritionist
My journey
Like most (all ?) dog trainers, I always loved dogs and I had dogs growing up.
At the university I studied International Relations because I was told "dog trainer it's not a real job". I got my first dog Diablo when I was 6 years old, dogs always bring part to our family. I adopted a dog from a rescue shelter in 2020, she came live with me in Paris, while I was still at university, her name Reyka. A year later she developeda fear of strangers. I began some researches and starting some training. Some was very useful, some was a waste of time. Through training Reyka, I've made some mistakes.
I loved the moments spend trying to understand Reyka's behaviour and to train her to feel safe and comfortable with some strangers. At the same time, university became less and less interesting. I decided to spend more time training dogs.
Interestingly Reyka wouldn't eat kibble. I changed proteins, brands, bowl, added toppings... nothing worked, she was only eating to survive.
Again I went back to research, attended conferences, global summits, all on nutrition. I switched to raw. She started eating normally, gained muscle mass, had better skin, great coat health and bonus, better breath...
I looked for training courses that matched my values, R+ dog training and fresh food nutrition study-based. I trained at Nature de Chien for dog training and, because we're super late in France, I turned to the English speaking world for nutrition, with CASI, Dogsfirst and continue my quest for knowledge regularly attending training courses, global summits, conferences and even popping in to see my local vet !
If my journey with Reyka taught me something it's that dog training begins with training the dog's human
